My name is Katie Stanek and I will be getting married this Winter to Nevin Nylin. We met in culinary school and secretly started dating two months into the first semester. We kept our relationship a secret from our class because we didn't want the pressure of their eyes on us. After Christmas break we announced it on Facebook that we were dating and the first day back to class they had plenty of jokes and comments for us! We became engaged on 4th of July last year, and as soon as that happened, Nevin says, "I want to wear a kilt at the wedding since I'm Scottish." Of course my answer was, "Heck no! I do not want to see my man wearing a skirt for the first time at our wedding." "It's not a skirt!" he replied. Why he is so bent on this, I'm not sure. Nevin doesn't really say much about his Scottish heritage, but it is a must for the wedding. He is also a rollerskater and wanted to skate down the aisle. We argued over this for a long time. Then I stumbled upon your website and we came up with a compromise-if I had a cake topper made with him in a kilt and wearing skates, he promised he would not wear a kilt or skates at our wedding. So I am depending on you! Please help me! Our idea for the cake topper has escalated a bit from there, but from what I've seen on your website it looks like you are more than capable.
I'd like to have Nevin wearing a red Scottish kilt, but with a groom's upper attire on. We think he will be wearing a black jacket with a red vest and red tie. I've enclosed a picture of the kilt he would like. His rollerskates are black with white wheels. He collects swords, so of course I must have him holding a sword over his shoulder.
I've enclosed a picture of my wedding dress, which I would like to be wearing on the cake topper. My hair will be in an updo and I will be wearing a veil hanging down the back. I love to hunt with my dad and his siblings, so I would love to be holding a bow in my left hand. I've enclosed a picture of a bow that is close to what I own. Could I have red feathers on my arrows? Also, if this is possible, it would be cool to have my left leg kind of bent so my dress is hitched up a bit to reveal that I'm wearing camouflage hunting boots. (yes, I will be wearing a camouflage garter) Since our wedding is in the winter, could the base of cake topper look like a snowflake? If not, a red base?
Now you know the background, sure we designed a snowflake base to reflect their wedding season (please check sketch-1 above). However we still made another design, a dish shaped base, to reflect the culinary school they met. We always try our best to make a better design based on our clients’ story. Finally they chose the dish base design and added their names and wedding date on the edge of dish.
